Brook is a registered patent attorney and intellectual property advisor who specialises in protecting innovations in the engineering and high-tech space. He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent and design applications across a broad range of technical areas, including digital electronics, medical devices, robotics, embedded systems, signal processing, and a variety of software related fields.
He also advises clients on various other facets of intellectual property, including the patentability of inventions, freedom to operate, protection and commercialisation strategies, patent infringement, and validity analysis. With an honours degree in computer systems engineering and a commerce degree, Brook is able to quickly understand technologies and give pragmatic and to the point IP and commercial advice relevant to specific needs of his clients. Brook is also close to completing a law degree.
Prior to joining Catalyst IP, Brook worked for another leading New Zealand IP firm, where he acted for a range of clients, including multi-nationals, start-ups, universities and research institutes.
In his spare time, you’ll find Brook cycling, swimming, or getting out in the New Zealand wilderness. He also attempts to play golf and tennis whenever possible.
