The team at Catalyst Intellectual Property is delighted to congratulate Professor Gary Evans on his appointment as Chief Science Advisor to the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
Professor Evans is one of New Zealand’s leading research scientists and is currently the Deputy Director of the Ferrier Research Institute at Victoria University of Wellington. The Ferrier Research Institute is a long-standing client of Catalyst Intellectual Property.
Professor Evans is a PhD chemistry research contemporary of Greg Lynch, Partner at Catalyst Intellectual Property. Both worked in the same research laboratory at the University of Otago under the supervision of Professor Peter Grant, and both went on to conduct post-doctoral research at Oxford University before returning to New Zealand.
On learning of the new appointment for Professor Evans, Greg commented “My longtime good friend continues to take giant strides in his career. Gary is an exceptional researcher, super smart, and a very affable character. He will go very well at MBIE and we wish him the very best”.
