Toby has over 15 years of experience advising innovators in all types of patent matters domestically and overseas. Toby qualified as a European and Authorised Swedish Patent Attorney in 2010 and has a special interest in the electromechanical and medical device space while also comfortably handling a wide range of other types of technologies.

Toby arrived in New Zealand the first time in 2011 as a freshly qualified European Patent Attorney from Sweden and worked for one of Auckland’s leading patent law firms as part of his 12 months overseas experience. After about five years back in Sweden he and his family decided to move back to New Zealand permanently with his wife and two children in 2017.

As a European Patent Attorney Toby has drafted and prosecuted numerous European and overseas patent applications for a wide range of companies, including IKEA of Sweden, Telefonaktiebolaget Ericsson AB, Koninklijke Philips N.V, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. In addition, Toby has extensive experience in providing clearance opinions, including freedom to operate and infringement opinions to a wide variety of companies. He has also been involved in several patent oppositions before the European Patent Office in Munich.

In his spare time Toby enjoys tramping around the Auckland ranges and flying around New Zealand in fixed wing aircraft with his friends and family.
