EMILY ELLIS

Immediately prior to joining Catalyst Intellectual Property, Emily was the sole director of Ellis IP Limited, trading as Ellis Terry, for over thirteen years, operating a successful trade marks practice which has now merged with Catalyst Intellectual Property.

Emily has worked in the intellectual property field for over 25 years including in London, France, and New Zealand.  A registered New Zealand and Australian trade marks attorney and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, Emily is an expert in trade mark law with many years of recognition by Managing IP and World Trademark Review including recent recognition by Managing IP in the Top 250 Women in IP internationally.
Emily’s experience across all aspects of trade mark law and her connections internationally enable her clients to establish trade mark rights and maximise the benefit of those rights on an international front.

Emily takes pride in her ability to work closely with clients to first understand their businesses and then find a solution to their branding issues which best suits their requirements.  Emily assists across all stages from start-ups through to established businesses, brand establishment through to brand protection including contentious matters.

Emily is a member of NZLS, NZIPA (New Zealand Intellectual Property Attorneys), and IPSANZ (Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand), and an accredited mediator, AAMINZ (Associate, Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of NZ).  She maintains strong connections with the international trade mark profession through membership and attendance at conferences operated by INTA (International Trade Mark Association), FICPI (International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys), and PTMG (Pharmaceutical Trade Mark Group).

Emily spends her spare time reading, travelling, catching up with friends over wine and food, and walking her dog around the many bush and coastal walks near her house north of Auckland.
