Rachael has almost 25 years’ experience in intellectual property law and joins Catalyst Intellectual Property as part of the merger with Ellis IP Limited, the trade mark practice of Ellis Terry, where she worked for over seven years, ultimately as a Principal.

Rachael is a lawyer and an expert in trade mark law recognised by Managing IP and World Trademark Review, with well established experience dealing with trade mark matters directly through the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand and IP Australia as well as around the world through an established network of agents.  

Rachael assists across all stages of trade mark development, protection and enforcement, artistic copyright, fair trading issues, and trade mark use agreements.  Rachael enjoys working with businesses of all sizes, including assisting charitable organisations with holistic IP services.  She has a particular interest in working with start-ups to establish and implement an IP strategy to enable business growth and success.  

Rachael is a member for NZLS, and IPSANZ (Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand) and an associated member of NZIPA (New Zealand Intellectual Property Attorneys).

Rachael tries to make the most of her down-time attending live music and theatre events, or occasionally breaking out the acrylic paints.
